Long time civil servant and honestly I never fully grasped what the African Union was doing until I looked into their policy work recently. The way they break down continental issues and how different countries connect on trade and development sha opened my eyes to the bigger picture. Came in with skepticism about how much impact a union like this could actually have but their documentation and research materials are solid and thorough.
